DISTRICT UPDATE

Putnam City Staff and Families,

Due to recent state legislation affecting instructional day and time requirements, we want to share an important update with you as early as possible about how our District will handle school closures caused by inclement weather this school year. The changes below are updated on the published district calendars on our website.

If school must be canceled due to inclement weather, missed instructional days will be made up according to the schedule below, in order:

Closure

Plan

1st Closure

No make-up day needed. Support employees (180 days or less) will have the option to use the day for professional development.

2nd Closure

Students and employees report February 12

3rd Closure

Students and employees report April 16

4th Closure

Students and employees report May 21;

Teacher workday moves to May 24

5th Closure

Students and employees report May 24;

Teacher workday moves to May 25

6th Closure

Students and employees report May 25;

Teacher workday moves to May 26

7th Closure

Students and employees report May 26;

Teacher workday moves to May 27

8th Closure

Students and employees report May 27;

Teacher workday moves to May 28

Please note: If a scheduled make-up date has already passed by the time a closure occurs, the make-up day will default to the next available date in the rotation plan. 236 and 258 contract support employees need to follow the PCESP Negotiated Agreement for 2026-2027 for inclement weather.

As a reminder, start and end times are not changing for the regular school day.

We understand that adjustments like these can affect family plans, and we’re committed to communicating any updates as early as possible. If a weather closure occurs, families and staff will be notified of which make-up date applies through our standard communication methods (website, email, phone/text, district app, social media).

Thank you for your support and understanding as we work to meet these additional requirements while minimizing disruption to your family’s schedule.

We are excited for a new school year starting soon, but until then, please enjoy the rest of your summer!

Go Boldly,

-Putnam City Schools
